New Music Friday: May 6, 2022

May is going BIG! At least this week is. Arcade Fire are making their long-awaited return with their new album WE. Their fellow Canadians Simple Plan are also back with a new collection of pop-punk goodness. From Scotland, Belle & Sebastian are bringing us more indie pop, and from Australia, we’re getting some good rock n’ roll from Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Incredible songwriter Sharon van Ettan is also dropping her latest collection, and The Americans are back with a new collection of great Americana.

Fans of old school emo will enjoy the new EP from The Juliana Theory (read our review here) and lovers of new-school emo/pop-punk will be bouncing along to the debut EP from poptropicaslutz!.

I’ve been a fan of Jamie T from day one, so it’s exciting to get a new single from the man, with an album dropping this July. That feeling is equally strong for the new ones from The Afghan Whigs and Pacific Radio. Joyce Manor, Pollyanna and Ashe all have solid new ones out, and we’re excited to have the newest single from Near Beer (one of our Top EPs of 2021).

The artists we’ve selectively chosen to join our playlist for the first time this week are The Best Around, Lulu Simon, Mauvey, Fransis, i.o. Underground, Jack Henderson, Public Opinion, Ryman, The Small Calamities, Blair Davie and Celebration Summer!

Listen to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist on Spotify or Apple Music!
