World Watch: Casilian

Country: Norway

Casilian are a talented trio that began two years ago but who have already garnered a following in their homeland based on their intimate songwriting and gorgeous harmonizing. Echoing groups like The Lumineers, Bon Iver and Dispatch, and with buzz increasing following successful showcases for major festivals, this is a group to keep an ear out for.

Their latest single “Hey Son” is a moving acoustic tune, written as an apology letter from a parent to their son, seeking forgiveness. There’s a gentleness to the tune that is endearing – this is one that could definitely end up on some soundtracks in the future. More upbeat is the song “Dancing Spirit”, with its harmonized sing-along chorus.

There’s a soulfulness to “My Old World, Pt 2” and its bluesy vocals, while “Shower of Light” adds synth pop elements to the band’s sound to give them a fully fleshed out and powerful sound.
