Loose Sutures play the kind of heavy, fuzzed-out stoner rock that feels like the audio equivalent of an underground cult horror film. Formed on the island of Sardinia, the current trio write tracks that brim with lustful, lurid stories, given flesh through doom-filled guitars, stampeding drums and bellowing bass lines. And there’s a pure bad-assery to tracks like their latest single “Highway Shooter”.
Like the soundtrack to a pitch black desert highway car chase, there’s a sense of danger to every scuzzy guitar lick and smashing drum beat. If you heard this in a bar, you would want to start a brawl just so this song would soundtrack it forever in your memory. Off the band’s upcoming third LP, Sado Sex for Dummies (May 26, 2023), this will certainly tide over everyone still waiting for a new Queens of the Stoneage album (it even features form QotS member Nick Oliveri on a track).
