Seattle’s The Drowns are hard-working, relentlessly touring punk rock n’ rollers. Yet, their latest single “Relentless” is surprisingly not about their work ethic.
The blazing and powerful track is about the “crushing weight of capitalism on the working poor” and the mental toll that takes. That may sound like heady and intellectual subject matter, but man does the band make a BANGER out of it. Produced by Descendents‘ Bill Stevenson, the song packs a ‘relentless’ punch, with a chorus begging you to punch the air with every shout of “relentless.”
Vocalist Aaron “Rev” Peters’ brings an earned fury to the song, while Andy Wylie (Bass, Vocals), and Jake Margolis (Drums, Vocals) push the into rousing, anthemic territory.
The first single off their upcoming album Harsh Reality (September 18), listen to “Relentless” in our Bangers of the Week Playlist.
