September is ended, and while most of you are getting ready for fall, I’m getting ready to have my first child! Not sure how I’ll keep getting these NMF posts together over the next few months, but somehow, they’ll find their way to you.
So what’s closing out September? Rocker and activist Tom Morello has his latest guest-heavy solo album out to rally the people. Leon Bridges isn’t leaving summer behind with his island-flavored new record, while Joy Oladokun continues to show incredible growth as a songwriter on her new album. New ska-punk supergroup The Family Business Ltd have their debut LP out today, and 2000’s pop rock phenoms The Calling are back with their first new album in a very long time (read our writer’s interview with Alex Band here, and his review of the album here).
Scottish alt-synth pop trio CHVRCHES are starting their fifth (V) album era with a ‘rosey’ new song. Another excellent alt-pop group, Tegan and Sara, are back with their first new song in four years, and Mod Sun explores the ‘silverline’ on his latest. Iron and Wine released a deluxe edition of their new album, and we have three new songs from that for you,
U2 are rocking again on the second single from their upcoming full-length album, and 2000’s alt favorites Alien Ant Farm certainly aren’t gaslighting us on their new track. Queens of the Stone Age want to know where all the goth girls are, and Spike and the Gimme Gimmes takes us on a punk rock cruise to ‘Kokomo.’ Phoebe Bridgers has a new single from her acting debut, Primetime, and Girl Tones‘ new song is simply ‘precious.’
