New Music Friday: October 16, 2026

Lately, it’s felt like there’s been more music coming at me than I can handle, so every now and then it’s nice to have a lighter release week. So as it’s starting to finally feel like fall here in L.A., the new album by Fontaines D.C. will be emanating from my speakers. Alt pop chanteuse Ashe is on the verge of having the biggest record of her career, with her new one out today. And as he’s become known to do, Zach Bryan dropped a surprise new EP this week. And we have a new EP from Mynd Reader (read our review of it here).

U2 have their extravagant third single from their upcoming new album out, and fellow legends Blondie have shared the first song from their upcoming new album. Aesop Rock & Blockhead dropped their second collab single, and brought in Hanni El Khatib to join the fun. There’s an intense new one from bleachers, and a pensive one from Jake Bugg. Winona Fighter are back with an alt rock banger, while Anberlin have teamed up with Switchfoot for a more melancholic song.

Aaron Lee Tasjan has shared a stand-alone single, following his album release earlier this year, and Kings of Leon are chugging along on their latest album cycle with an excellent third single. Power-poppers Phantom Planet have shared the second song from their new album, and indie rockers Sun Room are continuing to blaze their own trail on their new jam. The Goo Goo Dolls are sending postcards, while Bryan Andrews his making his case to the left and right. The Smashing Pumpkins have a new song from the Hunger Games soundtrack, and Phoebe Bridgers and Brandon Flowers both dropped covers from a Felice Brothers tribute album.

Also back on the list this week are Young Rising Sons with Ava Franks, Ben Quad, Charissa Hoffman, Vehicle, The Hellflowers, fish narc, Sadurn, Massive Nightmare, The Boathouse, FFO: Chillin, Andy Grammar, Jason Wade, telekura, Best Ex, New Junk City, Tophouse, The Bankes Brothers, Pamphlets, Fulton Lights, Alien Boy, Cut the Kid in Half, Iglu & Hartley, Gus Baldwin, silt., Queen Anne, Agent 51, David Wimbish, Nervous Eaters, Paerish, Ashley Brandenburg, TALK, Michael Kiwanuka, Authority Zero, Temper City, Giant Rooks, Staind, Ripe, lovelytheband and Stephen Wilson Jr.
