New Music Friday Playlist – May 3, 2019
It’s May, and this first Friday brings us not one, but two of our Most Anticipated Albums of 2019. First, the long-awaited new album from indie rock stars Vampire Weekend. We’ve heard six songs from the album already, two of which I very much love. Next is from punk godfathers Bad Religion, who I’ve been a fan of since high school. Songwriter Passenger is back with a new collection of mellow folk. Topping it off is the latest album from Judah & The Lion, whose song “Forever, Always” played at my wedding ceremony, so I have a special place for them in my heart and playlists.
In singles, I have to say getting a new one from Tom Delonge’s band Angels & Airwaves was more welcome than I would have guessed. There are solid new tunes from Hot Water Music and The National, a return from Ten Foot Pole and two new songs from some of our favorite up-and-coming punk bands, Spanish Love Songs and Fang Fang.
Icelandic folk rockers Of Monsters and Men are back with a new one, Logic dropped a track with Eminem, Bad Books make a triumphant return with two new songs…I could go on. My best recommendation – listen to all the great new stuff yourself.
