New Music Friday: June 24, 2022

Holy smokes, it’s the last New Music Friday of June! Where did that month ago? At least we still got two more months of beautiful summertime, and the albums out today should definitely stay on your playlist. First we have the latest one from Muna (their first on Phoebe Bridger‘s label), which is filled with indie pop bops. Next, perennial summer favorite Jack Johnson has his latest batch of laid back folk pop, along with up-and-coming folk rockers Caamp. Indie rapper Lupe Fiasco has a new album of intelligent, socially conscious rap, and then Coheed & Cambria have their latest sci-fi emo opus out. Also for the new sunny season, Weezer has released their Summer EP.

There are also a ton of exciting new singles out this week, many of which hit us by surprise. First was the new Mars Volta (read our Comeback Alert piece on it), but then we found out we were also getting new ones from First Aid Kit, Ozzy Osbourne and Gorillaz (feat. Thundercat)! Adding to that goodness was the second single from Jamie T‘s next album, more music from Tai Verdes, a catchy new one from Stroke 9, and the latest from alt pop star Ashe.

New Spielbergs and Tony Molina music is always welcome, and Beach Rats certainly provide some blistering summer punk. The Interrupters have their third single out from their next album (and it’s great), and Arkells keep on dropping new summer bops to dance to. We also have artists like Imogen Clark, Roye Trout, Willow, i.o. Underground and Eli Hurts making a return to our hallowed playlist.

Hitting our playlist for the first time this week is Cory Branan, Kyshona, Circle the Earth, Goldie Vargas, Deathcruiser, Venerea, Twenty2, Nervous Eater, Tiffany Williams, Kids That Fly, Rachika Nayar and Chris Canterbury.

Listen to all of these and more in our New Music Friday Playlist on Spotify or Apple Music!
