Xana Morris brings an indie sensibility to her brand of pop songwriting. Hailing from Vancouver Island in Canada, the pop chanteuse’s blissful vocals will appeal to fans of Lana Del Rey, while her songs focus on LGBTQ romance, sex positivity, female empowerment and self-reflection. And while the title of her latest single, “bet you’ll get off on this” may sound like it has some tongue-in-cheek humor, upon listening you’ll hear a vulnerable and honest track.
“Used to be the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen, but what you said to me last Sunday was disgusting. Now I don’t even look at you to know you feel nothing” Xana sings over a stripped-down acoustic melody. The melancholy is clear as she asks “…like how did you not ever learn to be human?” to this former lover. It’s a song of hurt yet with hope for healing as well.
