Mobley is so much more than just a musician. The songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is also a filmmaker, coder and advocate, braving new frontiers with his music and releases. He draws influences from Spaghetti Westerns and 70’s sci-fi paperbacks (which were a major influence on his new EP Cry Havoc. These futuristic sounds can be heard in his stunning new single “Lord”.
The funky, indie rock track has Mobley spitting rapid-fire verses addressing the dire situations people live in (“Get your chains and find your people…If I get my payback, I won’t think twice. And if we survive, better hide, better run for your life”) before hitting a brilliantly soulful, anthemic chorus. The keys provide both smooth and coarse textures, putting one of the song’s feet in the past and one in the future.
Utilizing his filmmaking and coding skills, Mobley also created an incredible interactive video for the track (currently only viewable on Google Chrome). If you’re not a chrome user, you can still listen to this fiery track in our Check This 2023 Playlist on Spotify or Apple Music!
