I’m sure you’re all looking forward to the long, Memorial Day weekend…because it gives you more time to listen to music, right?
Even if blasting tunes isn’t your primary plan for the weekend, there’s still plenty of new stuff to spin at your BBQs and pool parties (or however you choose to spend the holiday). For any 90’s kids like me, you’re probably stoked to have the first new Matchbox Twenty album in over a decade! If you’re Gen-Z, I encourage you to give it a try too, though you may be too busy listening to the sophomore album from alt/indie artist Arlo Parks. Punks fans should definitely listen to the new albums from Heart Attack Man and Versus the World ( I can attest to it being great). And no one should ignore the brand-spanking new EP from the legends Fishbone!
The album releases for Foo Fighters, Portugal. The Man and Rancid draw ever nearer, and the groups continue to build hype with new songs. Also continuing their respective album teases are Jenny Lewis and The Pink Spiders, who dropped new tracks this week. Kurt Baker, a secret power-pop force, dropped a rocking single, and power-pop journeymen Teenage Fanclub continue to build their legacy with a new song.
Our recent Check This artist Amy Gabba & The Almost Famous pays homage to her ska forbears The Specials with a new cover, and fellow ska-lover Jeff Rosenstock has blasted back with a new banger. And it’s been a minute since we’ve heard from The Q-Tip Bandits, but have no fear cause that Boston band is back! We’re also welcoming back American Trappist, Midtown, Penguin Cafe, Anna Shoemaker, Tegan and Sara, Dominic Fike and X Ambassadors.
New artists we’re getting to spotlight this week in our playlist include Silent Forum, Sammy Shepard, 12 Rods, Nora Stanley & Benny Bock, Sea Lemon, Sad Park, Chasing Kites, Castle Frank, Amaara, D.A. Stern, My Sister, My Brother, Lauren Calve and Goblynne.
Follow our New Music Friday Playlist and get to listening to all of these and more!
