You may remember a year ago when we first introduced you to rising UK band Foarn. The West Midlands five-piece were a couple years into their career, and already showing a lot of promise.
Well, they’ve continued to prove themselves worthy of that attention and praise, as their latest single “Hideaway” is a fantastic addition to their catalog. The band took some time to discuss the new single with us, along with what they have in store for the remainder of 2026.

THE INDY REVIEW: You guys have had a busy summer, with some big shows including Isle of Wight Fest. When did you find time to start writing again?
FOARN: We spent a lot of time writing at the start of the year so we have accumulated a collection of ideas and half written songs which we are now starting to work though when our schedule allows us to do so!
IR: How has the last year touring inspired your writing as a band? Any specific experiences stand out for you?
FOARN: To be honest we haven’t really taken many of our experiences and made a song out of them but there is still time haha! We played a venue in London called The Lower Third last year and our latest single “Hideaway” is kinda linked to that with the venues name being used in the chorus lyrics and the artwork is a picture of the venue.
IR: About your new single, “Hideaway”, you’ve said “explores the frustration of chasing someone who never quite lets you in. It’s about that person who’s constantly hot and cold—flaky, emotionally unavailable, and never willing to commit. You cross paths, see them around town, and think something might finally happen, only for them to disappear again, always hiding away before anything real can begin.” – so was the song inspired by a specific person or experience you had?
FOARN: To be honest it’s not really about anyone or anything in particular it’s more of a hypothetical one haha, but yeah that is the premise. The skeleton of the song was written in Al’s bedroom and we were just throwing words at the music and hoping they’d stick and then kind of made up a situation for the song to talk about!
IR: The track is wonderfully melodic, and has a really nice spacious atmosphere, while also including some tingling post-punk guitar lines. It made me think of 80’s U2. Was there any specific sound or era of music you were exploring when writing this track?
FOARN: We’ve always loved that ethereal, spacious, floaty sound in our tunes and with this song not being as busy as others we felt like it had that space for the floaty sound so we kinda went to town on it. The main riff which is at the start, after the chorus and end is a bit of a hybrid though, it’s quite fast and played with a lot of aggression but the reverb pulls it back to that spacey zone so it’s a nice mix. There are probably touches of Interpol influences within the guitar parts themselves where there are a lot of single notes being played.
IR: How long was the process of writing and recording “Hideaway”? Were there any bumps or difficulties in getting it right?
FOARN: We have had the track for a good while now, but it’s changed a lot over time. Levi and Al wrote the shell of the song and then the week after we all spent a full day in the studio getting it put together. We played it live for a while and then when we decided to record and release it. To be honest we have had times where we have loved and then hated the song but since we recorded it I think we’ve found a bit of a stronger connection with it, maybe because we have heard it in a different context. The main guitar riff was completely scraped and replaced within about an hour whilst we were at the studio and it was kind of the gift we didn’t know we needed!
IR: What does the rest of 2026 have in store for the band?
FOARN: We’ve got some pretty cool shows coming up including a show at Trentham Gardens supporting The Fratellis and a couple we can’t really say too much about yet. We’d say the most important thing for us to do now up till the end of the year is write and craft the set, so a lot of time will be set aside for that. On the 4th December we play our biggest hometown deadline at The Sugarmill which is a massive thing for us so any support given is greatly appreciated!
