There’s a reason Nashville is considered “Music City.” The town seems to be full of multitalented artists like Josey Reinhardt. A singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Reinhardt takes musical inspiration from the country and Americana style music and style that permeates his hometown, and mixes it in with the alternative and indie rock that has always been a touchstone of his taste and influence.
His latest single, “Over My Head,” perfectly captures this amalgamation. Written about that “familiar feeling of being overwhelmed and trying to keep your head above water,” the song kicks off with a pedal steel guitar and rootsy rhythm that sounds like pure Americana. But as Reinhardt’s vocals come in, the tone of the songs takes on a darker, melancholic feel, with a melodic, atmospheric rock style that makes the song totally Reinhardt’s own thing.
