New Music Friday Playlist – May 31, 2019
And so we come to the last day of May, and the start of summer. Whether any of the new music today will be your song/album of the summer will depend how you like your summers. Some of you may like hard-hitting British rap, so Skepta will be your cup of tea. If you want some more classic R&B-inflected pop rock, the debut album from recent Bad-Ass Break Out artist Thoughts has arrived. If you want something with a stronger orchestral infusion, you’ll want to hear Kishi Bashi‘s latest album.
There are new tracks from some great singer-songwriters out today, including Sufjan Stevens, Pete Yorn, Matt Costa and King Princess. Another posthumous track from Charles Bradley has graced us, and you can check out the latest songs from some of our site’s favorites; Bruce Springsteen, Dessa and Slaughter Beach, Dog.
