Country: Singapore
It’s a great feeling to be able to discover a band right at the start of their journey, and that’s the case with Singapore’s latest alternative band Blush. Composed of members from other mainstays of the country’s vibrant indie/alternative scene (Sobs, Cosmic Child, Forests, Hauste), Blush have focused their sound around slower, emotional, fuzzed-out songs (think My Bloody Valentine), while still being able to turn up the sonics akin to power pop groups like Weezer.
As they gear up for their first live shows and the release of a three-track EP later in November, the band has given the world the first taste of their sound with the single “Best Friend”. Based around the ethereal, butterfly vocals of the group’s front woman, the hazy indie sound is given a husky rock boost by the powerful drumming, while the guitars create an atmospheric melodic ocean of fuzzy chords to audibly swim through.
